Terms & Privacy
The short version: ResumeSanity is a free, best-effort check. It can't promise how any employer's system will read your resume, and it doesn't keep your resume. Using it means you accept these terms.
Last updated October 30, 2026. ResumeSanity is run by Mass Insanity Productions, LLC ("we", "us").
1. What ResumeSanity is
ResumeSanity reads a resume you upload or paste, checks it against common things applicant tracking systems (ATS) have trouble with, and shows you a score, what to fix, the text as a simple ATS would see it, and (if you paste one) which of a job posting's keywords your resume has. This version uses fixed rules written by us; no artificial intelligence reads your resume. It's free, needs no account, and may change or stop at any time.
2. No guarantees
Everything on ResumeSanity is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, or that the site will be available, secure or error-free.
Every employer's ATS is different and configured in its own way, and they change. The score is our own measure: no employer or ATS uses it. A good score doesn't mean a particular system will read your resume correctly, and it doesn't promise an interview, a job or any other result. The checks can be wrong, miss things, or flag things that are fine.
Nothing on ResumeSanity is career, recruiting, legal or other professional advice. You decide what goes in your resume, and you're responsible for it being true. Never add skills or experience you don't have to match a job posting.
3. Your resume and your privacy
- Your resume isn't kept. The file or text you send, and any job posting you paste, are read on our server to make your results and deleted when the page has been made. They aren't saved, logged, shared, sold, or used to train anything. Your results aren't kept either: once you leave or reload the page, they're gone.
- The rate limit. To stop abuse, we count checks per internet address: we keep a one-way scrambled form (a hash) of your address and the times of your checks, for about an hour.
- Server logs. Like any web server, ours keeps standard access logs (internet address, date and time, the page asked for, and the browser's name) for a limited time, for security and troubleshooting. They don't contain your resume.
- Usage totals. To see how ResumeSanity is used, we keep daily totals: how many checks were made, whether they were PDF, Word or pasted text, how many included a job posting, and the average score; and, counted from the server logs, how many visits there were, which pages, and which sites or search engines sent them. Only the totals are kept (for 13 months): nothing that identifies you, your address or your resume.
- One cookie. A session cookie protects the form from being sent by another site; it's deleted when you close your browser. There's no advertising, no tracking, no analytics scripts and no third-party scripts.
- Whose resume. Check your own resume, or one you have the person's permission to check. ResumeSanity isn't meant for children under 13.
- Your rights. Because we don't keep resumes or accounts, there's nothing about you for us to show, correct or delete, beyond the rate-limit count and server logs above, which expire on their own (the usage totals hold nothing about anyone).
4. Fair use
Don't use ResumeSanity to send malicious files, to try to break or overload it, or to check resumes in bulk or by automated means. We may limit or block use that looks like any of these.
5. Donations
The Donate button takes you to PayPal. Donations are voluntary gifts to Mass Insanity Productions, LLC to help keep ResumeSanity free and running. They don't buy any product, service, support or priority, and they don't change these terms. We aren't a charity, so donations aren't tax-deductible, and they're non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
PayPal handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy. We never see your card or bank details; PayPal tells us what it tells any donation recipient (such as your name, email address and the amount).
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Mass Insanity Productions, LLC and its members, managers and contributors are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind arising from or related to ResumeSanity or your use of or reliance on it, including direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, and including lost opportunities, employment decisions or lost income. ResumeSanity is free; if any liability can't be excluded, it's limited to the amount you paid to use it, which is zero.
You agree to hold Mass Insanity Productions, LLC harmless from claims arising from your use of ResumeSanity or your breach of these terms.
7. Names and trademarks
Names of applicant tracking systems, employers, products and companies belong to their owners. ResumeSanity isn't affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of them.
8. Changes and contact
We may change these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and using ResumeSanity after a change means you accept it. If any part can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If a future version adds features such as AI suggestions, this page will say how they handle your resume before they're switched on.
